GLEANERS VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION FAQ'S

If you want to volunteer by yourself, with your family or with your friends you can register and sign up for any shifts on VolunteerHub at any time.

If you’d like to volunteer with a group, you’ll need to fill out the group interest form at gleaners.org/volunteer and we’ll contact you with available dates within 3 business days. We’ll then create a link specific for your group members in Volunteerhub.

What is VolunteerHub - why the change?

• VolunteerHub is a database that will allow volunteers to view available shifts, sign up online and complete the volunteer release form electronically. We hope that this will make your volunteer experience even better!

Is it safe to put my information into VolunteerHub?

• Yes. No one will be able to see your information except for a few of our staff who have specific access to the database.

Do I need to sign up on VolunteerHub if I've volunteered before?

• Yes. All new and returning volunteers will need to register on VolunteerHub. Once you’re registered, you’re registered indefinitely and will never need to create another profile again in the future. Volunteers will just need to sign off on the waiver form once per calendar year and VolunteerHub will remind you when it’s time.

Do minors need a VolunteerHub profile?

• Yes. All volunteers will need a profile for sign up and sign in purposes. Parents/legal guardians will need to create a profile for their child/children. VolunteerHub will ask you to print off the waiver and sign since your child is under 18 years old. You’ll turn the minor waiver into us at the start of your volunteer shift and we’ll keep it on file.

What information is required and why?

• First and last name, username, email address and birth date are all required. An email address is required so that we may contact or notify you of any changes with your volunteer shift (like inclement weather). Birth date is required so that VolunteerHub will know whether or not you will need to sign the adult or minor waiver.

Do I have to use VolunteerHub?

• Yes. We are excited to make the switch to VolunteerHub and believe that our volunteers will enjoy it too. We want to spend our donor dollars and use our staff resources in the wisest way possible. Using VolunteerHub allows us to spend more of our donor dollars on food. Since every $1 = 3 meals we can have a greater impact on our community. We also have a very lean staff, just 70 employees, so VolunteerHub will allow our staff to use their time more wisely. We also truly believe that VolunteerHub is a tool that will make our volunteer’s experiences more user-friendly and engaging.

How do I sign up for a shift? How do I cancel a shift? (Individuals only)

• Once you register (click Create Account at the top of the screen to register), individuals will be able to view our available shifts and sign up by clicking the Sign Up button next to each shift.

• You can cancel a shift by logging in to your account, clicking on My Schedule and clicking Cancel Registration.

Does each person in my family need to register individually? (individuals only)

• Yes. For sign up and sign in purposes, we’ll need every volunteer to have a unique profile. This will also ensure that when you sign up, you reserve enough spaces for your family.

How far in advance can I sign up for a shift?

• Volunteers can view and sign up for available shifts up to 3 months in advance. If you are interested in signing up for shifts further out than 3 months, please contact our Volunteer Department directly.

What if I want to bring my group to volunteer?

• Groups can register by filling out the online interest form at gleaners.org/volunteer or by contacting our Volunteer Department directly. We’ll then send you a list of available dates within 3 business days based on your group size and time frame interested. Once you’ve selected a date(s), we’ll send you a link specific to your group to get registered in VolunteerHub.

 What if I/one of my group members does not have access to a computer/tablet/smartphone to create an account?

• We do require all volunteers to create a VolunteerHub account before volunteering with us as this is how you will now sign off on our volunteer waiver. If you or your group member does not have access to a computer or a smartphone with internet access, please contact us and we’ll work with you on how to create your account.
